Professor.Kasai has donated variety of his splendid collection to the School.

The headmaster asked him if he would be an honorary member at the organization because he felt urge to show his appreciation in a tangible way on the behalf of all members. He accepted cordially to affiliate himself with the organization as an honorary member.
He presented the curious and famous utensils of Sencha Tea Ceremony. When he was participated in the New Year Tea Party in Kyoto January in 2003, he made an impressive speech to guests saying that he had practiced Sencha tea ceremony in the Ogawaryu during his days as a student at Kyoto University and obtained the qualification of gcyudenh. His speech which caused the participants a most agreeable sensation is still fresh in our mind. The professor discovered the headmaster via TV program in which the headmaster made lectures about tea culture on educational NHK and later corresponded with him about his various collections. It encloses works produced by well-known porters such as Miura Tikusen, Seifu Yohei Makuzu Kousai and so on.
He hailed from the agricultural department of Kyoto University and lectured at the Kyoto University and Research Institute for Food Science. He has had the honor of giving five lectures in the presence of Emperor Showa, Incumbent Emperor, Crown Prince and Princess and other members of the Imperial family at the Imperial Palace. He is known for the study of Ganoderma lucidum.
His father also had a keen interest in Sencha Tea Ceremony and held tea ceremony gatherings to invite numerous a numbers of intellectuals and artists. Each utensil of the collection was cherished by his deceased father. Being afraid that they would be dissipated if nothing was done, Professor Kasai confided to the headmaster and donated them to the school. Emeritus Professor Shigetosi Konishi of Shizuoka University who has maintained a friendship with the headmaster, acted as intermediary. Professor Kasai happened to be a former teacher of Professor Konishi.
Professor Kasai practiced Sencha tea ceremony under tea master Mrs. Toda when he was a student of Kyoto University. I interviewed tea master Mrs. Murakami who used to practice under Mrs.Toda together with Mr.Kasai. She answered that it was a thing of the past more than fifty years ago, she had to struggle to recall of the past. My recollection is that I practiced it together, and had invited him to my house. He was younger in those days. He was such a bright nice lad that we had a rare old time. It felt just like the good old days to hear the name of Mr.Kasai.
Professor Kasai and the headmaster will enjoy their long and warm association with each other with the start of the donation of his collections.
